This presentation will initially describe an occupational-therapy student-led investigation into the views of six different allied health professional student groups’ views and priorities regarding pre-registration education for sustainable healthcare, which was used to inform the Council Of Deans of Health ‘Education for Sustainable Healthcare within UK Pre-registration Curricula for Allied Health Professions’ guidance document in 2023. The Inclusive Housing Design Guide is a revised and updated edition of the seminal Habinteg Housing Design Guide first published in 2002. The guide provides a design brief and detailed advice for all those involved in the design and delivery of housing that can inform employers' requirements for accessible homes. This new guide references good practice guidance on inclusive design of the built environment and specifically addresses some of the limitations of M4(2) and M4(3) of the building regulations in England . It provides a rationale for, specifications and technical guidance on how to deliver accessible and inclusive housing that is flexible and adaptable to changing needs. With invaluable advice, insights, explanations and illustrations, it is an essential guide on how to deliver housing that is functional, inclusive and meets the changing needs of people of all ages.

UK occupational therapists report low confidence in assessing visual perceptual difficulties after brain injury and find existing standardized assessments too time-consuming. In the session, we will discuss how knowledge of the hierarchical visual system can help to understand the main visual perception impairments. Further, we will summarise the evidence on assessment methods for visual perceptual impairments and share research findings from novel assessments that are more time efficient. Following an introduction and discussion of existing evidence on assessment, we aim to demonstrate a new 15-minute evidence-based screening tool for visual perception difficulties after brain injury. The session will be most useful for participants working in neurological practice, but prior knowledge on brain injury or visual perception is not required. Through polling questions, participants self-assess their pre-session knowledge and post-session learning outcomes to support their CPD.

The WHO describes Climate Change as "the greatest threat to health in the world today... it affects physical and mental health....food systems, and livelihoods... threatens health workforce and infrastructure and reduces the capacity to provide universal health coverage. " With this in mind it should be front of centre of our planning yet many Occupational Therapists do not know how or feel unprepared to implement sustainable changes in their their working practices. We have a unique opportunity to support the people work with in day to day choices which can impact on their health and wellbeing, while also being sustainable. Occupational Therapists are currently changing pathways to improve patient experience and empowerment, researching virtual neuro rehab, exploring green and blue spaces in mental health, supporting equipment reuse and reduction and including sustainability in pre-registration and post registration education; what could you be doing?
