Planetary health and environmental sustainability are directly linked with human health and wellbeing, presenting occupational therapists with a unique advocacy and activist role. However, there is a lack of easily implemented strategies for translating environmental and sustainability policy into practice within occupational therapy education and practice. This presentation will initially describe an occupational-therapy student-led investigation into the views of six different allied health professional student groups’ views and priorities regarding pre-registration education for sustainable healthcare, which was used to inform the Council Of Deans of Health ‘Education for Sustainable Healthcare within UK Pre-registration Curricula for Allied Health Professions’ guidance document in 2023. Occupational therapy-specific views will then be explored, followed by suggestions of practical actions for translating awareness of planetary health and environmental sustainability into occupational therapy education and practice.
