Kate Sheehan
Occupational Therapist,
Consultant Occupational Therapist
Kate graduated in 1987, and her specialist area of practice is accessible housing design, championing the need to understand the meaning of home to an individual and how poorly designed modifications can have a significant impact on the wellbeing of clients.
For the last 25 years, she has collaborated with Stannah on development of new products, supporting products that meet customers’ functional needs as well as creating products that we all would want to have in our own homes, allowing us to age in place. To this day she continues to work with the central Government on the development of an accessible built environment and co-authored the Wheelchair Housing Design Guide. She contributed to the research on wheelchair space standards for the revised building regulations. In recognition of her work, she received a Fellowship from the Royal College of Occupational Therapists in 2022 and an honorary Fellowship from Worcester University.
