Dr Joanna Fletcher-Smith is an award winning clinical academic and case manager. Joanna currently holds the roles of Case Management Services Lead at Harrison Associates and Honorary Associate Professor at The University of Nottingham School of Health Sciences. As an HCPC registered occupational therapist by professional background, she worked clinically in the NHS in acute hospital settings prior to spending a decade working in clinical research, mainly randomised controlled trials of neurological rehabilitation interventions. Joanna then moved into the case management industry, starting as Associate Case Manager, progressing to Clinical Lead, Clinical Manager, and now she heads up the case management service of a nationwide company. She continues to hold a small caseload of catastrophically injured clients, predominantly those with brain injury and complex poly trauma. Joanna is also involved in supporting the industry through her voluntary role of Director on the Board of the Institute of Registered Case Managers, where she is Chair of the Certificate of Proficiency Working Group and a member of the Professional Development Committee. She is a Director and Research Lead for CMSUK. Joanna is passionate about improving the quality and effectiveness of rehabilitation services for those impacted by disability and trauma through the implementation of evidence-based practice.
