    Ever since I became an occupational therapist around 25 years ago, there has been a constant narrative regarding the lack of recognition of the profession as a whole.  Generally, I agree. Forgetting for now the poorly understood name of our profession, we are a small profession compared to other health care professions, rarely mentioned in the press (although this has definitely improved in the last couple of years) but there continues to be poor public awareness about what we do, a lack of acknowledgement regarding the importance of people’s occupational needs and a lack of occupational therapists in positions of leadership and influence.

  • The Occupational Therapy Show, which takes place on the 21st and 22nd November 2018, is delighted to announce that after last year’s great success, The Occupational Therapy Show Awards are back again for 2018, in partnership with the OTCoach. Nominations for the awards are open to all OT professionals, so start submitting your nominations for the awards! The awards are aimed at grass roots OT professionals, whether in the statutory or private sector, to recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions made to both the profession and to the clients they serve. The winner(s) of each award (not per person) will be awarded £250 cash prize, plus a place on OTCoach’s “Coaching Skills for OTs” online course, worth £120! All nominees will receive a special gift from OT Coach! The bestselling e-book “Selling OT: from OT idea to value proposition”.

  • The UK’s largest trade and CPD education event just for Occupational Therapists.  4,711 Occupational Therapists visited the 2017 show, with an increasing number of 4,800+ Occupational Therapists expected in 2018. A wide spread of visitors attended the 2017 OT Show from around the UK. Breakdown is as follows: Scotland 1%, North West 8%, North and Yorkshire 6%, Midlands: 40%, Wales 5%, South West 11%, South East, East Anglia and London: 29%.

  • The Occupational Therapy Show has excelled once again this year with thousands of occupational therapy professionals gathering at The Occupational Therapy Show on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd November (NEC), making it the UK’s largest free to attend, education and trade event for the occupational therapy profession.

    Visitors gave the free-to-attend, two-day education conference and exhibition a resounding thumbs up – as did the 270+ exhibitors, including the trade’s biggest brand names, AKW, Invacare, Seating Matters, Joerns and Etac amongst others, who showcased hundreds of the latest products and services on the exhibition floor which has increased year-on-year for the last five years! The aisle and theatres were packed with delegates on both days enjoying plenty of lectures available for every member of the occupational therapy team plus hands-on education at exhibitor stands.
