Seating Matters at Occupational Therapy Show

Seating Matters at the Occupational Therapy Show

On 1st December 2014, in Events, by Jonathan Tierney

Last week saw the second year of the Occupational Therapy Show in the NEC in Birmingham. It was the UK’s largest dedicated CPD education and trade event just for Occupational Therapists. We would like to thank everyone who came to visit the Seating Matters Stand and to everyone who attended our seminars at the Occupational Therapy Show. It was a great event for OT’s and here are a few reasons why it was such a great show.

1. Attendance
The show was very well attended by both Occupational Therapists and suppliers of products and services. There were over 200 suppliers of products and services and thousands of OT's. This proves the demand for this type of event for OT's where CPD education is combined with displays of products and services. Like the real world the products or training on their own are not enough. It was the combination of both which attracted the crowd and which is also needed in our everyday work.

2. Over 56 Hours of CPD
There were over 56 hours of FREE CPD from world-class speakers and experts in their field including our OT’s Martina Tierney and Olivia Mc Vey. Martina's presentation on The Effectiveness of Specialised Seating Assessment and Provision for Clients in Long Term Care’, covered the research and clinical trials behind the Seating Matters chairs along with an overview of the full days training offered by Martina. Olivia’s presentation, Why Seating Matters? covered the practical considerations of seating, postural management and pressure care. If you missed out on any of the seminars let us know as video links and presentations will be available.

3. Handbook Giveaway
Seating Matters gave away 100’s of FREE copies of the 4th Edition of The Clinicians Seating Handbook, worth £21.95. Martina published The Clinician's Seating Handbook as a way to get this clinical knowledge into the hands of every person working with seating. The 4th Edition now includes information on seating for bariatric patients along with the results of a 2-year KTP Research Project and Clinical Trial. It’s not too late to receive your FREE copy or update your old one. Just get in touch and mention the Occupational Therapy Show for your FREE New Clinicians Seating Handbook.

4. Organisers
The Occupational Therapy Show was one of the best run and well organised events we have been involved in. A big thank you has to go to the organisers of the show. The attendence and the success of the show reflects the organisers desire to provide what therapists are looking for in an event like this. This is why we are already looking forward to next year.

Thank you and please help us change the world of healthcare seating.

Thank you again if you visited Seating Matters at the Occupational Therapy Show and don't forget if you missed us its not too late to get any information you require. We hope seeing our products, receiving our Seating Handbook or attending our seminars will help you, help us, to change the world of healthcare seating.
