Nigel has worked with in variety of settings and agencies, such as the NHS – Acute Hospitals, Specialist Units, Community Services, within Local Authorities and Private Practice. Nigel has been a qualified Occupational Therapist for 23 years and has created an impact in various roles in commissioning and operations at a director level, as a Service and Operational manager. In addition, Clinical lead roles working with various client/patient groups including individuals with complex Physical, Psychological and Mental Health needs, across the age spectrum of Children and Young Persons and Adults. Nigel has a special interest in developing integrated Therapy Services and has worked in the past with the World Health Organisation (WHO). Nigel has a particular interest in ‘client centredness’ and has been involved in leading projects related to ‘Moving and Handling’, Commuinty Group Networks, Independent Living Centres. He is an experienced programme manager and has worked mostly across the South and West of England covering Devon, London and as far as Kent. Nigel re- introduced the single-handed care approach in Somerset 7 years ago and is currently now in a commissioning Occupational Therapy Service manager role within Adult Socail Care. He works part time now, so he can further enjoy his love of the family, engage in a range of outside recreational activities alongside enjoying the Somerset Countryside.
