Claire Hart
Assistant Professor in Occupational Therapy,
Northumbria University
Claire qualified as an occupational therapist in 1991 and worked in mental health services, developing an interest in the impact of traumatic life events on occupational lives. She has worked in academia for over 25 years, undertaking occupation focussed research and providing education to undergraduate and postgraduate students and apprentices.
Claire has developed a particular interest in exploring the occupational needs of refugees and other marginalised populations, as a therapist, academic and researcher. She is interested in the many limitations placed on occupational choice and opportunity, and how limited access to occupation plays a role in further excluding certain groups.
