Occupational Therapy - the vital link for children with DME
25 Nov 2021
Dual or Multiple Exceptionality or DME refers to children who have a contradictory profile of high learning potential (gifted) and a special educational need or disability / SEND. Paediatric Occupational Therapists are some of the best suited professionals to help children with DME, yet very few therapists are aware of this or how to help them effectively. In this session Mariza will highlight the main difficulties DME children have and why occupational therapy is vital to help them address and overcome it. Mariza will also share how she has adapted her therapy approach in order to achieve meaningful outcomes for this neurodiverse group of children.
