Using Quality Improvement methodology to evaluate the worth of Occupational Therapy within an Addictions Setting
The Medicated Assisted Treatment standards provide guidelines under which care is provided to those open to Addiction services within Scotland. Occupational Therapy within Addiction services is an under researched and not widely identified area of practice for Occupational Therapists.
The Ayrshire and Arran Improvement Foundation Skills programme provided an introduction to Quality Improvement methodology and tools which enabled and enhanced service user group engagement and participation. A significant learning from this experience was a small targeted change can have a significant impact on patient care provided and has changed the approach taken to patient care initiatives both new and existing.
