Traumatic brain injury (TBI) brings about inevitable and significant changes for family members. We sought to investigate if a narrative, creative approach, the ‘Life Threads’ approach, could be used to support family members make sense of their own lives post-injury. This was an in-depth qualitative study where family members were asked to work with the Life Threads materials, complete two focus groups and an individual interview. We specifically examined the data for evidence of benefit and perceived value. In addition, we conducted a thematic analysis to understand this approach to supporting families in more depth.
- - Describe the support needs of families following traumatic brain injury (TBI).
- - Explain the challenges and complexities involved in developing and delivering supportive interventions for families after TBI.
- - Evaluate the use and potential impact of narrative approaches in supporting families affected by TBI.
