Supervising Success: The role of occupational therapy supervision in wellbeing and burnout prevention

26 Nov 2025
Theatre 3

OT supervision is something we all need to do. We will explore how to extend it beyond clinical and managerial responsibilities. As therapists, we require a safe space for both professional and personal development, understanding the context of your organisation and professional role.

Many therapists are experiencing imposter syndrome, workplace stress, burnout, all which impact job satisfaction, wellbeing, team dynamics and staff retention. This talk will explore how person-centred OT supervision can be a vital tool to support therapists, protect their well-being, explore working relationships and create a positive work environment that fosters growth and promotes staff satisfaction.

  • Reflect on your own experiences of OT supervision and explore your expectations for person-centred supervision.
  • Explore supervisory tools that enable a reflective and supportive space to explore personal values, boundaries, organisational challenges or other factors that may contribute to workplace stress or burnout.
  • Explore tools that can be used in OT supervision and in the workplace to support your wellbeing and reduce burnout.
  • Evaluate your own supervisory experiences and practice and identify any training needs which could enhance your effectiveness as an OT supervisor within your organisation.
