'The aim of occupational therapy is to help children and young people take part in activities and routines – the occupations – that give purpose and meaning to their lives,’ (RCOT, 2024). As occupational therapists, this must be at the forefront of our practice when assessing for and making recommends for equipment or adaptations.
This session will highlight the legislative, professional standards and ethics and clinical reasoning when recommending adaptations and equipment that could be deemed restrictive and discuss whether we are promoting or limiting occupational engagement.
