    Ever since I became an occupational therapist around 25 years ago, there has been a constant narrative regarding the lack of recognition of the profession as a whole.  Generally, I agree. Forgetting for now the poorly understood name of our profession, we are a small profession compared to other health care professions, rarely mentioned in the press (although this has definitely improved in the last couple of years) but there continues to be poor public awareness about what we do, a lack of acknowledgement regarding the importance of people’s occupational needs and a lack of occupational therapists in positions of leadership and influence.

  • The Occupational Therapy Show, which takes place on the 21st and 22nd November 2018, is delighted to announce that after last year’s great success, The Occupational Therapy Show Awards are back again for 2018, in partnership with the OTCoach. Nominations for the awards are open to all OT professionals, so start submitting your nominations for the awards! The awards are aimed at grass roots OT professionals, whether in the statutory or private sector, to recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions made to both the profession and to the clients they serve. The winner(s) of each award (not per person) will be awarded £250 cash prize, plus a place on OTCoach’s “Coaching Skills for OTs” online course, worth £120!
