The aim of the Occupational Therapy Department within Bradford Metropolitan District Council is to maximise a person’s independence and/or improve their quality of life. Occupational Therapists/Therapy Assessors undertake a functional assessment of a person’s mobility and identify any barriers that impact on their engagement in activities of daily living. We utilise technology to undertake virtual assessments at the front door to facilitate direct provisions of equipment and simple adaptations. Therapists work with the individual/family to minimise/remove barriers, to enable a person to remain safe in their home. We have 6 teams within the department: Home Assessment team, Enablement, Intermediate Care, Independence Advice Hub/Duty OT, Children's and Young People team and Early Help and Prevention. We provide minor and major adaptations, moving and handling equipment/ training and signpost to local services.
