Mindfulness Informed Fatigue Managment - Class 1 video
This introductory video explores fatigue and its impact on physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing, daily routines and meaningful activity.
Charles Talbot, Consultant Neuro Specialist OT and BAMBA Registered Mindfulness Teacher, introduces practical tools used within Mindfulness-Informed Fatigue Management (MIFM):
• The 3-Zone Model: a traffic-light framework for recognising changing energy levels and signs of overload.
• The Fatigue Bucket Analogy: understanding how physical, cognitive and emotional demands accumulate throughout the day.
• Mindfulness: noticing present experience and recognising opportunities to respond to fatigue.
• The ABC Technique: a brief practice for pausing, breathing and reconnecting with the present moment.
For occupational therapists, the video offers an introduction to the programme and a resource to support conversations with clients about fatigue awareness, activity and rest. It may also be useful for reflecting on their own work-related fatigue.
Week 1 forms part of the complete eight-week MIFM programme, which brings occupational therapy and mindfulness together through accessible education, guided practices and everyday activities.
