Your Experience. Their Possibilities. Discover Your Next Chapter with Harrison Associates at The OT Show 2026
Exploring new career possibilities
What if the skills you have developed throughout your occupational therapy career could open doors to something new, without losing the very reason you entered the profession?

That is the conversation Harrison Associates hopes to inspire at Stand F03 at The OT Show 2026, where the team will be meeting Occupational Therapists interested in exploring new professional pathways in Case Management and Expert Witness work.

For over 35 years, Harrison Associates has supported people following serious, catastrophic and life-changing injuries. Behind every case is a person trying to rebuild their everyday life, regain independence or find new ways to participate in the activities that matter most.

And behind those people rebuilding their lives are healthcare professionals whose experience, judgement and understanding of the whole person can make a lasting difference.

Real People. Different Journeys. Shared Purpose.

For many Occupational Therapists, moving beyond traditional clinical practice is not about leaving the profession behind. It is about discovering what else their experience makes possible.

Take Ann, who was approaching her nineteenth year in the NHS when she began looking for a different professional challenge.

Her move into rehabilitation Case Management with Harrison Associates opened opportunities to coordinate resources, shape rehabilitation plans and support people through complex recovery journeys. She later expanded into Expert Witness work, bringing together her clinical and Case Management experience with the analytical demands of medico-legal reporting.

Or Julie, whose long-standing relationship with Harrison Associates has allowed her to combine clinical practice with the intellectual challenges of Expert Witness work, applying holistic assessment skills, problem-solving and clinical reasoning to complex cases.

Michaela found a different kind of opportunity. Expert Witness work introduced a new professional challenge while offering the flexibility to balance career development with life outside work, supported by training and guidance.

Their journeys are different, but each demonstrates how occupational therapy skills can continue to develop and contribute in new settings.

Two Pathways. One Shared Commitment to People.

Case Management offers the opportunity to work alongside individuals and families following serious injury, coordinating rehabilitation, care, equipment, accommodation and multidisciplinary support. It is about understanding what matters to the person and bringing together the resources needed to help them move forward.

Expert Witness work allows experienced Occupational Therapists to apply their specialist knowledge to personal injury and clinical negligence cases, providing independent, evidence-based reports on functional ability, rehabilitation, future care and support requirements. For those with relevant expertise, opportunities may also include breach of duty reporting.

Both pathways draw on the foundations of occupational therapy: clinical reasoning, understanding function, recognising individual needs and helping people live as independently as possible.

Meet the People Who Understand These Careers

At Stand F03 at The OT Show, visitors can speak directly with two of Harrison Associates' clinical leaders.

Joanne Lowe, Expert Witness Services Lead, brings nearly 30 years of clinical and medico-legal experience. A practising Expert Witness and full member of the Expert Witness Institute, Joanne oversees the development and quality of Harrison Associates' Expert Witness services. She will be available to discuss how clinical expertise translates into independent reporting, what the work involves and the professional standards expected of an Expert Witness.

Joanna Fletcher-Smith, Case Management Services Lead, is an award-winning Case Manager with over 20 years of experience across clinical practice, research, education and leadership. A Director of the Institute of Registered Case Managers and Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham, Joanna brings considerable insight into the profession and its development. She will be sharing her experience of rehabilitation Case Management, the skills involved and how Occupational Therapists can make the transition.

They will be joined by Dilara Rogers, Nathan Scragg and Megann McKay, welcoming visitors and discussing the opportunities available through Harrison Associates.

You Don't Have to Have Your Next Step Planned

You might be an NHS Occupational Therapist wondering what opportunities exist beyond statutory services. You might be working in community rehabilitation, neurological services, paediatrics or social care and looking for greater variety in your professional life.

Perhaps you enjoy assessment and report writing, or find particular satisfaction in coordinating rehabilitation and seeing how the right support can change someone's daily life.

There is no single route into Case Management or Expert Witness work, and not everyone needs to make a complete career change.

Harrison Associates welcomes conversations with experienced OTs who want to understand the possibilities, including those interested in developing an independent portfolio alongside their existing practice.
