Theraposture to expand pioneering Orbit Rotating Bed range at OT Show
The pioneering new Orbit X Double Combination Divan Bed from Theraposture
Theraposture, the respected specialist in Rotating Beds, will be unveiling innovative new Orbit Rotating Bed models at the 2025 OT Show.
The Orbit 235 (Occupational Rotational Bed for Independent Transfers) is the most advanced, versatile and adaptable Rotating Bed available. These solutions are used by those with restricted mobility who struggle with bed transfers. The Orbit provides a proven and personalised, powered solution to getting in and out of bed safely whilst reducing the need for carers. Developed in collaboration with Occupational Therapists and end users, the Orbit builds upon Theraposture’s understanding and experience as the market leader in Rotating Beds. This unique design delivers a product that is easy to re-issue as it can be reconfigured electronically and mechanically to match a wide variety of user heights, weights and body shapes. Effectively one bed can be used by patients from 4’10” to 6’6”. Overall, it is proven to reduce care costs and represents the most sustainable sleeping solution in the world for enhanced independence or interdependence at home.

Building on the proven success of the Orbit 235, which was launched at the OT Show in 2023, there will be the first opportunity to see and try the new models in the range - the Orbit 335 HD and Orbit 235X Divan. These two new Orbit models promise to revolutionise care and mobility for an even wider user group and can offer aesthetic choices.

The Orbit 335 HD is by far, the world's most capable Rotating Bed. With a maximum user weight of up to 300kg (47st) and tested to lift 600kg (94.5st), it is the leading specialist solution for plus size users. The Orbit 335 HD has the same configurable and programming benefits as the Orbit 235:

·       Reduced carer costs of over £27,000 each year

·       Flexibility for re-issuing and equipment cost savings

·       Fully programmable functionality and adaptable sizing

·       Ergonomically suited to plus size users

·       Suitability for users with heights ranging from 4’10” to 6’6”

·       Conforms to BSEN60601-2-52, so safe and compliant

·       Full support for elevated legs and feet with a Rising Foot Section

·       110cm wide mattress

·       Optional Handlebar Grips

The new Orbit 235X is the new divan version of the Orbit 235 and is available as either a single or Double Combination bed. It provides the same functionality and clinical benefits as the current Orbit 235 bed, but with the added advantage of clients having aesthetic choices. The Orbit 235X can be supplied with either an upholstered Divan or a solid oak surround, giving clients choices about how the bed looks.

The Double Combination Orbit 235X allows couples to remain together in the same bed even if their mobility requirements differ.

Each Orbit 235X features the following:

  • Choice of surround and headboard design in a range of fabrics and wood finishes
  • Ergonomically adjustable for users with heights from 4’10” to 6’6”
  • Suitable for users weighing up to 31 stones (tested for users’ weight up to 62 stones)
  • Programmable seat height and depth settings
  • Choice of back angle during rotation and seat position
  • Three different rotation speed options
  • Anti Trendelenburg (TV) position
  • Full support for elevated legs and feet with Rising Foot Section

The complete range of Orbit Rotating Beds will be available to try on stand H36 alongside expert educational content from Maarten Middelkoop, Clinical Director of Compliance. Maarten will give a fascinating insight into Medical Device product development. Following the 2023 launch of the Orbit 235 at the OT show, he will demonstrate how medical device product design must achieve practical effectiveness, compliance with standards, affordability, and adaptability to help equipment services with reissuing. This CPD opportunity will show prescribers how the Orbit Rotating Bed range has been developed to ensure compliance with BSEN60601-2-52.
