The clinic is CQC-registered and is co-directed by UK-trained Consultant Plastic Surgeons Sara Atkins-Murray and Alexandra Atkins-Murray. Alexandra leads the regional adult and children's Burns service at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and has been running a multi-disciplinary scar clinic in the NHS for 10 years. Sara leads the plastic surgery trauma service at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, working closely with victims of major trauma on a regular basis. Their combined expert knowledge and experience of developing  successful team-based approaches to caring for patients with scars has led to their vision for Thames Valley Scar Clinic.
