Small ADL solutions can make a big difference
For many people, preparing food and drinks is closely linked to independence, dignity and participation in everyday life. Yet simple kitchen tasks such as opening a jar, stabilising a bowl or pouring a drink can become difficult after stroke, injury, arthritis, reduced hand function or other functional limitations.
Easy-Up is a practical ADL aid developed to support one-handed activities in the kitchen. By using a double vacuum function, Easy-Up secures items such as jars, bottles, cans, bowls and cups to a flat surface. This gives the user a stable base and makes it possible to carry out everyday kitchen tasks with one hand or with reduced grip strength.
For occupational therapists, the value of a product like Easy-Up lies not only in the technical function, but in what it enables. It can help a person prepare breakfast, open packaging, stir ingredients or make a drink with less help from others. These small actions can have a significant impact on confidence, motivation and participation in daily routines.
Easy-Up is already used in Denmark by private users, therapists and municipal services as part of practical support for independent living. It is particularly relevant in situations where the goal is to maintain or regain everyday function, reduce dependency and support safe activity in the home.t
The product is simple to use, portable and easy to introduce during assessment, rehabilitation or home adaptation. It can be demonstrated quickly and tested directly with the user in realistic daily activities.
At Handigood, we believe that welfare technology does not always need to be complex to create meaningful change. Sometimes a small, well-designed solution can remove a barrier and help a person do more for themselves.
We look forward to presenting Easy-Up at the Occupational Therapy Show on 25 and 26 November and to meeting occupational therapists who work every day to support independence, participation and quality of life.
