Why sensory support needs to work in real life
For many neurodivergent children and adults, sensory regulation is not confined to a clinic, classroom or scheduled intervention. It affects sleep, transitions, concentration, recovery from overwhelm and the ability to take part in everyday life. The most useful sensory tools are therefore often the ones that can be used simply, independently and without drawing unnecessary attention.
Nesti was created with that reality in mind. Our compression sleep pods provide gentle, consistent pressure through soft, stretchy fabric, while allowing the wearer to move freely and choose whether to keep their arms or feet inside or outside. They are designed for people aged four and over and are available in children’s and adult sizes.
Families often tell us that the value of a Nesti lies in its simplicity. There are no weights, fastenings or complicated instructions. It can be used over clothing, for short periods during the day or as part of an individual bedtime routine. As with any sensory product, preference matters: some people actively seek compression, while others may dislike it. Choice, supervision where appropriate and attention to the individual’s response should always guide use.
Occupational therapists play a vital role in helping people understand their own sensory patterns and identify practical strategies that fit their daily routines. We see Nesti as one possible tool within that wider, person-centred approach—not a treatment, and never a replacement for professional assessment or advice.
Since launching in June 2025, Nesti has reached thousands of families across the UK and internationally. The response has reinforced something occupational therapists already know: good support does not need to be complicated, but it does need to be accessible, adaptable and grounded in the person’s lived experience.
We will be exhibiting at the Occupational Therapy Show on 25–26 November 2026 at Birmingham NEC. Visit the Nesti stand to see the pods, feel the fabric and discuss how compression tools may fit within responsible, individualised sensory support.
