The Role of Transport in Enabling Rehabilitation and Recovery
At this year’s Occupational Therapy Show, as part of the CPD programme, Open Road Access (ORA) will host an informative session exploring how transport can act as a catalyst for rehabilitation and sustained recovery. The session - The Role of Transport in Enabling Rehabilitation and Recovery - will be led by Catherine Marris, Director of Partnerships, Policy & Impact at ORA and expert in accessible transport, alongside Martyn Sibley, renowned disability inclusion pioneer and co-founder of Purple Goat Agency, with possible additional speakers from a healthcare and therapy background to join.
Together, they’ll discuss how transport planning can evolve alongside clients’ changing mobility needs: from hospital discharge and community reintegration to participation in work, family, and social life. The session will highlight how aligning transport with rehabilitation goals can strengthen continuity of care and support smoother transitions throughout the recovery journey.
Attendees will gain practical insights into integrating transport considerations into case management and rehabilitation planning. Catherine will also introduce how Open Road Access’s nationwide accessible vehicle hire service is one example of this adaptable approach: offering smart, flexible, tech-enabled transport with fixed, predictable costs that help case managers, occupational therapists and funders plan with confidence.
As Catherine explains, ‘Recovery isn’t static: and neither are people’s transport needs. By adapting transport solutions as mobility changes, we can all help clients maintain independence, confidence, and connection at every stage of rehabilitation’.
This forward-looking session will share new perspectives on how transport can enhance recovery outcomes and quality of life. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from leading voices in the disability and rehabilitation sectors and discover how Open Road Access is redefining mobility for recovery.
