Elizabeth Casson Feature Zone
The beautiful space, the timeline graphics and the information and activity stations were fantastic, but it was the people who truly made the Zone a success. It was a privilege to meet so many occupational therapists, to hear who or what inspired them to join our brilliant profession, and to watch them plot their career journeys across our 'world-wide web'.
'The Elizabeth Casson Zone gave delegates a rare window into Elizabeth’s extraordinary life. We lost count of the number of people who told us that her vision and determination - from bringing OT to this country to founding the Trust - had inspired them and left them feeling more determined themselves' – Dee Christie, OBE, FRCOT - Chair of the Elizabeth Casson Trust
Alongside sharing the history of Elizabeth and the Trust, the Zone gave us space to connect. As a 'people profession', these connections are vital. They also help us, as a Charitable Trust, to listen, understand, and respond to current needs, ensuring we continue to keep Elizabeth’s legacy alive.
There is a wonderful saying that 'humans are stories made visible', and over the two days of the Show, we heard some extraordinary stories. Some made us laugh, some made us a little watery-eyed, but all were powerful reminders of the dedication, compassion and creativity that define our profession.
Thank you again to the OT Show and CloserStill Media for their support in helping us deliver the Zone and fulfil our charitable objective of furthering the profession of occupational therapy. The feedback has been incredible.
When exploring new projects at the Trust, we often ask ourselves: What would Elizabeth do? We hope her pioneering spirit and the #BeMoreElizabeth badges serve as a reminder of the power we each hold to make a difference. If you collected a badge, please wear it with pride.
