CMSUK - A New Era of Growth, Connection and Professional Excellence
A Fresh Identity for a Dynamic Profession
This year saw the launch of CMSUK’s new brand and website,
reflecting the organisation’s evolution as a leading voice for case management
in the UK. The refreshed visual identity and enhanced digital platform
reinforce CMSUK’s inclusive mission to support every professional working
within or alongside case management.
Alongside the new website came the launch of CMSUK’s first
podcast, “IF: Identity First,” hosted by Steph Fleet. The series explores the
human side of care through authentic conversations about identity, inclusion,
and the lived experience of case management.
Leadership Transition
In Autumn, Sue Ford announced that she would be stepping
down after 11 years on the CMSUK Board, including four years as Chair. She
leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of leadership, inclusion, and community
building. Under her stewardship, CMSUK expanded its membership, modernised its
structure, and strengthened its professional voice.
Reflecting on her time, Sue shared:
“CMSUK has always helped me feel connected, part of
something bigger and more important than the day to day. I will always be
grateful for that sense of belonging and for the friendships and support that I
found within the CMSUK family.”
Taking up the role of Chair is Rhiannon Stokes, founder of
Stokes Case Management and an occupational therapist with over 30 years’
experience. Rhiannon brings passion, energy, and deep professional insight to
the position.
“It’s an honour and a privilege to take on the role of
Chair of CMSUK. Looking ahead, I’m excited to work with our members and
partners to ensure CMSUK remains at the forefront of professional development,
advocacy and community-building in case management. Whether you’re new to the
profession or have decades of experience, there’s a place for you here. I’m
really excited about the future. My vision is to continue building a society
for all — reaching case managers across every setting: the NHS, private
practice, charities, and beyond. We’ll strengthen our relationships with
BABICM, VRA, and the IRCM to ensure members are supported with registration,
standards, and professional growth. I look forward to leading CMSUK into its
next chapter—with energy, collaboration and a continued focus on excellence in
al that we do.”
Expanding the CMSUK Team and Academic Partnerships
Further strengthening the organisation’s leadership, Rachael
Benn has joined CMSUK as Professional Development Director, bringing over three
decades of experience across health, social care, and education. Her expertise
will help drive new learning opportunities and workforce development
initiatives for members.
In another significant milestone, CMSUK has awarded its
inaugural PhD Studentship to member Gabriella Hadley, in partnership with the
University of Derby. Gabriella’s three-year, full-time doctoral research will
explore strengths-based assessment models and their impact on transition
outcomes in case management.
Looking ahead to the new year, CMSUK will welcome a Chief
Strategy Officer in a consultancy role. With a strong academic background, this
appointment presents an exciting opportunity for CMSUK to harness their
expertise to advance the charity’s objectives and further the profession of
case management.
Welcoming New Directors
CMSUK welcomes four new Directors to the Board, Jin Garcher,
Jackie Chappell, Julie-Anne Fulford and Natalija Janeva. Each bringing their
own unique talents and skills to enhance CMSUK’s vision and development plans.
Jackie Chappell:
“I’ve worked in case management since 2008, primarily
supporting children, young people, and adults with catastrophic injuries. I’m
really passionate about collaboration and how case management organisations can
work together to support each other and share knowledge.
For me, CMSUK is about inclusivity—ensuring we bring in
people from all parts of the industry, not just case managers, but everyone
contributing to the profession. It would be an honour to be part of the CMSUK
Board, sharing my experience and helping to strengthen our community.”
Julie-Anne Fulford:
“I was an Army nurse for 16 years, and now I work with 38 of
the most complex veterans injured across the UK. My aim is to champion
excellence and showcase the incredible work case managers are already doing.
I’m passionate about education, mentorship, governance, and
fostering a culture of resilience and innovation. I also want to strengthen the
voice of the military and ex-military community within CMSUK. Together, we can
promote the outstanding standards of our profession.”
Jin Garcha:
“I’m a nurse by background, with over 30 years’ experience,
including 10 years in intensive care and the last 20 in specialist care
provision for people with spinal cord and brain injuries.
I’d like to champion more corporate providers to join CMSUK
and build stronger relationships between care providers and case managers.
Education and collaboration are key to strengthening those links and ensuring
consistent, high-quality care for clients across the country.”
Natalija Janeva:
“My career began at Queen Square and the Stanmore Spinal
Cord Injury Centre before moving into leadership roles in palliative and
operational management.
I’m passionate about how we spend funds for clients and how
we can make the most of the resources across local authorities, the NHS, and
private sectors. I want to help promote CMSUK’s mission—creating clear
pathways, supporting registration, and encouraging new professionals into case
management with the right training and competencies.”
