Why CO-OP, Why now?

25 Nov 2026
Showcase Theatre
The Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Approach is internationally recognised as an evidence-based, occupation-centred intervention, yet many therapists remain unaware of its application across the lifespan. This presentation will provide an accessible introduction to CO-OP, exploring its core principles of client-centred goal setting, guided discovery and cognitive strategy use. The session will demonstrate how these principles support children and adults to achieve meaningful occupational goals across a range of developmental and neurological conditions, including stroke and Parkinson's disease. Delegates will gain an overview of the approach and an understanding of how CO-OP complements contemporary occupational therapy and rehabilitation practice by empowering people to achieve the occupations that matter most to them through strategy use, participation and self-efficacy.
