Practical skills and tools for neuro-affirming practice across the lifespan. What could you notice tomorrow that changes the questions you ask, the choices you offer and the support you develop together?
Join Kathryn Smith to explore how ASI Wise connects sensory awareness, skilled observation, understanding patterns and meaningful choices with everyday occupational therapy practice. Discover Sensory Aware, Seeing Differently, NeuroObs and the Sensory Choices Checklist, brought together through the PEAR TREE™ Lens Framework.
This is an invitation to move beyond collecting information towards understanding what it means for the person. Through practical examples across the lifespan, explore how assessment findings, sensory and motor observations, lived experience and everyday context can inform a richer picture of participation.
Look beyond an isolated score or behaviour. What patterns are emerging? What changes between activities and environments? How might sensory perception, movement, coordination and planning contribute to the picture alongside sensory preferences and responses? What does the person notice, value and want to explore?
See how the learning and tools can contribute to different parts of that conversation. Sensory Aware provides a starting point for shared understanding. Seeing Differently invites deeper exploration of sensory experiences and patterns. NeuroObs brings observation into focus, while the Sensory Choices Checklist opens conversations about preferences, possibilities and support.
The emphasis is on developing skills within the roles delegates already hold: observing thoughtfully, recognising strengths, connecting information, considering alternative explanations and deciding together what to try. Moving beyond scores means using assessment with greater purpose, while keeping the person’s experience and priorities central.
From early life to later life, the focus is not a ready-made sensory programme or a list of strategies to apply. It is a more informed, neuro-affirming way to understand, offer choice, adapt and support meaningful occupation.
Come and explore the tools, work through the questions and discover your next step with ASI Wise.
Notice more. Understand patterns. Decide together.
