The chair, the skin and the person - an OT and TVN perspective on complex decision making

25 Nov 2026
Innovation Theatre

What happens when the clinically safest option isn't necessarily the option that matters most to the person?

From seating and positioning to pressure care, tissue viability, independence and quality of life, clinicians are constantly balancing competing priorities — often with no perfect solution.

Through thought-provoking clinical cases, debate and audience discussion, this interactive session brings together Occupational Therapy and Tissue Viability perspectives to explore the complex decisions that sit in the grey areas of practice.

Delegates will be challenged to look beyond “What is clinically safest?” and consider the more difficult question: “What matters most to this person?” Because sometimes, the best decision isn't about eliminating risk — it's about making the right decision for the person living with it.
