The BREAD Approach®: a practical framework for supporting regulation in schools
This session introduces The BREAD Approach®, a practical five-step framework designed to support regulation and participation for pupils in school environments. Developed through extensive work in education settings, the approach helps occupational therapists translate sensory and regulation theory into simple, structured strategies that school staff can implement consistently. The session will provide an overview of the framework exploring how the approach can support both universal and targeted provision within mainstream schools, in line with the emerging reforms outlined in the 2026 Schools White Paper, Every Child Achieving and Thriving. The presentation will invite discussion and feedback from fellow occupational therapists, particularly those working in or new to school-based practice.
