From AMPS to QoP tools: practical assessments for contemporary occupational therapy practice

26 Nov 2026
Innovation Theatre

This session introduces the evolution from the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) and School AMPS to the new Quality of Performance (QoP) tools, offering OTs a timely and practical update on assessing performance in context. As practice and evidence continue to evolve, there is a growing need for approaches that are inclusive, occupation-centred, and applicable across the lifespan and to a wide range of needs/conditions.
Attendees will gain an overview of the conceptual shift underpinning QoP, how it builds on and extends AMPS through new theoretical models, and why this matters for contemporary OT practice.
The session will highlight the relevance of these tools for real-world assessment, service delivery, and demonstrating meaningful outcomes, as well as applications in education and research. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of the direction of travel and how they can begin to engage with and apply these approaches in their own practice.
