Supporting children and families requires occupational therapists to look beyond the child’s clinical needs and understand the wider family, social, educational and environmental context.
This session will explore practical approaches to child- and family-centred practice, including building effective relationships, identifying meaningful goals, supporting family wellbeing and coordinating input across education, health, social care and rehabilitation services. Drawing on practice-based examples, attendees will gain strategies for balancing the child’s voice, parental priorities, professional recommendations and the practical realities facing families.
