Building on RCOT’s Building Health into Homes Strategic Report and Toolkits, this practical case study explores how to assess when wash and dry toileting is appropriate and how clinical reasoning and individual needs inform recommendation, configuration and specification of the right solution.

Toileting assessments can easily become focused on measurements, transfers and equipment. However, achieving the right outcome requires OTs to understand the whole person - their physical abilities, cognition, sensory needs, routines, environment, identity, support network and what matters to them in everyday life.

Building on the principles within RCOT's Building Health into Homes Strategic Report and Toolkits, this practical session will follow a client through the toileting assessment journey.

Using a real-life case study, the talk will explore how the findings from the assessment inform the recommendation - when wash and dry is clinically appropriate, what needs to be considered and how individual needs influence the configuration and specification of the solution.
