Restrictive practice is rightly under scrutiny - but is avoiding restriction always the least restrictive option?

Using safety beds as a real-world case study, this session explores some of the uncomfortable grey areas OTs face when balancing rights, risk, sleep, safety and family wellbeing. We’ll look at what the current RCOT guidance actually says, how safety information can become distorted as it travels, and what happens when fear of getting a decision wrong leaves a family with no workable solution at all.

Rather than asking simply, “Is this restrictive?”, we’ll explore a more useful question: “Compared with what?”
