Occupational therapists have a vital role to play in removing barriers to participation - not only through individual rehabilitation, but by influencing the systems, services and policies that shape people's lives. This session will explore how occupational therapists are creating meaningful change at both an individual and strategic level.
Drawing on the Vocational Rehabilitation Association's work, discover how vocational rehabilitation supports people to access, return to and sustain meaningful employment, empowering participation through work. Alongside this, Sport for Confidence will share insights from its nationally commissioned Include to Improve programme, demonstrating how occupational therapists are influencing system-level change to increase opportunities for disabled people to participate, volunteer and work in sport and physical activity. Together, these case studies will showcase how occupational therapists can extend their influence beyond traditional clinical practice to create more inclusive communities and opportunities for all.
