A home is more than a building. Following catastrophic injury, the pressure to make a property safe, accessible and ready for discharge is real and necessary, but safety and participation are not the same thing.  When a home becomes organised around care and equipment, it can quietly stop being a place where someone is a parent, a partner, a host. 

 

This session explores what it takes to create a home that enables participation, not only access. Drawing on case reflections and conversations from the CMSUK podcast, it offers a practical framework for evaluating adaptations by the roles and activities they make possible, and ways to hold that question within a multidisciplinary team.
