How does the Caribbean story in Britain influence Occupational Therapy education and practice?

This is the story about a very special demography within the UK populous. As a people they have led the way in efforts to teach society about the meaning of humanity in the face of occupational injustices most notable racial prejudice, racial discrimination and post traumatic stresses that have emerged from these problems. Scholars and practitioners of Occupational Therapy and friends are coming together to formulate research and policy linked to best practices that informs education, training and practice of all OTs in tribute to the Windrush Generation.

• To raise awareness about strategies utilised to turn negative structural and media messaging into positive values of humanity.
• To educate others about historical events that impact present day to day lives of descendent of people of Caribbean ethnicity.
• To acknowledge development in research within the Occupational Therapy profession by OTs of Caribbean heritage who are taking ownership of the discourse relating to under representation and sometimes mis representation of data linked to this demograph.
