Addressing the elephant in the room: supporting sexual wellbeing after brain injury

22 Nov 2023
Theatre 1

This session will focus on the unmet needs of patients and healthcare professionals in supporting mental and sexual wellbeing after acquired brain injury (ABI). We will start with an overview of the problem faced by patients and professionals in both accessing and providing sexual wellbeing support. Then we will present some practical tips and an overview of our current research study – HOPE4ABI – which tests a digital intervention to support people living with ABI to self-manage their mental and sexual wellbeing. In this under-researched and under-resourced area, we are working closely with patients and professionals to provide accessible and acceptable digital support solutions.

  • 1.Gain insight into the experiences and unmet support needs of UK men and women living with ABI
  • 2.Understanding the potential of digital self-management as a scalable, cost-effective solution to post-ABI sexual wellbeing support
