Embedding Single-Handed Care practice in the NHS for discharge
Historically the focus of Single-Handed care has been delivered by the community review teams with the aim of reducing care packages. Harrison in 2018 explored and realised the positive effects that SHC being carried out in the community had on patient flow in acute hospitals. This information fed into a theory that therapists across the whole system of Health and Social Care could work together and carryout hospital discharges using the SHC approach. As the sum of the whole was always going to be greater than working in a silo.
